Learning & Development Manager
NORTH EAST (Ref 766 ) PERMANENT
up to circa £55k p.a. depending on experience + hybrid working
We’re looking for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to shape and lead the development of all colleagues across the business. Ideally, you’ll bring at least five years’ experience in a senior L&D role within professional services environment, with a strong understanding of career pathways, regulatory requirements, and modern learning practices
As part of the People team, you’ll lead the design and delivery of a business wide learning strategy that enhances excellence, strengthens leadership capability, and supports career development at every level—from trainees to senior leaders.
This is a hands-on, strategic role for someone proactive, creative, and passionate about developing people.
Key Responsibilities
L&D Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and deliver a strategic L&D framework aligned to business goals.
- Work closely with senior leaders to identify current and future capability needs.
- Build a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Develop competency and career frameworks.
Learning Needs & Programme Design
- Conduct regular learning needs analyses using data, feedback, and performance insights.
- Design and deliver engaging learning solutions: workshops, coaching, e‑learning, and knowledge sessions.
- Partner with quality external providers when specialist training is required.
- Lead leadership and management development programmes.
Early Careers & Compliance
- Oversee trainee recruitment, development pathways, and early careers programmes.
- Ensure the business meets all regulatory learning requirements.
- Manage training records and the annual compliance cycle.
Coaching & Support
- Coach and support managers in developing high‑performing teams.
- Guide colleagues through personal development plans and career pathways.
- Act as the L&D subject-matter expert for internal projects and organisational development.
Learning Technology & Data
- Manage and evolve the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Use people analytics to measure impact and continuously improve learning offerings.
- Introduce digital tools and innovative learning approaches.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships across the business to drive engagement with learning initiatives.
- Work closely with head office teams and manage external training partners.
What You’ll Bring
- Significant L&D experience within a professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of career pathways.
- Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate impactful learning programmes.
- Confident facilitator and coach with excellent communication and stakeholder skills.
- Experience using LMS platforms and learning technologies, with a data‑led approach.
- CIPD Level 5+ (or equivalent experience).
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Curious, creative, and committed to continuous improvement.
