HR Manager
NORTH EAST (Ref 753) 12 month FTC to start March / April 2026

We are delighted to partner again with our client to recruit an experienced HR Manager to cover maternity. A purpose led organisation and with strong values, and excellent leadership from the Director of HR, this is a great time to join the team.
Reporting to the HR Director, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality, day-to-day operational HR support across multiple sites. You’ll lead on complex employee relations matters, develop and embed HR policies, and provide expert guidance to leaders and managers. This is a hands-on role with strategic influence, offering variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management
- Lead on all complex HR casework including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, and safeguarding-related matters.
- Provide expert advice to Managers and senior leaders on employment law and best practice.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation, investigation processes, and outcomes.
- Liaise with legal advisors and unions as required.
- Maintain the casework tracker and produce regular reports for SLT
HR Policy Development
- Review and update HR policies in line with statutory changes.
- Consult with all stakeholders including union representatives.
- Ensure policies are accessible, user-friendly, and embedded through training and communication.
- Lead on the development of toolkits, templates, and flowcharts to support policy implementation.
Training & Support
- Deliver training and briefings to leaders and line managers on HR policies and case management.
- Support with bespoke advice and coaching on handling sensitive HR matters.
- Develop FAQs and guidance notes to build confidence and consistency across the business.
Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to workforce planning, change management, and organisational development initiatives.
- Support the HR Director in developing a proactive, responsive HR service.
- Analyse trends in casework and policy usage to inform strategic decision
PERSON SPECIFICATION (Key Skills)
- CIPD qualified or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and best practice.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
- Experience managing complex casework and policy development.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites and stakeholders.
